(SOLD) Large scale Native American black ware or black on black pottery vessel. Made at the San Ildefonso Pueblo, circa. 1890-1910. Santa Fe County, New Mexico. This piece was made before pieces were commonly signed. Created as a utilitarian vessel, it was used by the tribe members as you will notice the wear to the base from being placed on the sand. It was probably used for water storage. There are few examples of San Ildefonso pottery with this large scale size and age making it a very rare and coveted example of Pueblo pottery. It is a museum worthy piece of Native American art. Measures 14" diameter 11.25"H. Professional restoration to rim.
