A ceramic transferware jug or water pitcher with a swan floating in a pond with lily flowers, late 1800s. Very good vintage condition, No repairs, chips or cracks. Measures H 11.5 in. x W 8.5 in. x D 7.5 in.
Transferware:
Transferware is about as close as you can get to printing on ceramics. Developed in Staffordshire, England in circa 1760, the technique consists of transferring a print from an engraved and inked copper plate to a sheet of paper.
